Becoming Like a Child

One of the greatest powers of a human being is the power of imagination. It is an inner, powerful energy that changes current facts to new facts, negative situations and attitudes to something fresh and new. The power of imagination is a free gift that can change your life, but you must use the gift. Everything starts with imagination. Imagination is the key to moving from impossible to possible. It has the power to bring forth feelings of hopefulness, excitement and joy.

It is natural and enjoyable for a child to imagine. When their power of innate, God-given imagination has not yet been destroyed by digital games, culture, school systems or authorities, children can imagine anything. Ask them, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Not surprisingly, they have an answer. How is that possible? They answer almost spontaneously with ideas such as a teacher, fireman, engineer, architect, astronaut, IT specialist…anything. Sadly, and all too frequently an adult can re-direct or even discourage their imagination. In addition, adults unwittingly teach children what lying is, when the child is honestly using the power of imagination. Very young children cannot know the difference between real and not real since their pre-frontal cortex is not fully developed for that skill. The fact that imagination can be stifled at such a young age is unfortunate. When imagination becomes wrong, then one’s power to create a new world vanishes.

Imagination has also resulted in a stressful time for children when “dragons under the bed” are real! Once again, however, imagination is the answer. We guide children gently to imagine something new!

I have some questions that will require you to use your power of imagination.

Are you ready?

What’s your juicy dream these days?

What miracle would change your life?

What dream would you love to manifest?

How is your power of imagination working these days?

What is it in your life that you would like to see or experience differently?

How have you most recently used your imagination to change something?

What is so unbelievable that you could believe only with your imagination?

Let those questions marinate in your heart for a while.

As co-founders of Unity, Myrtle (1845-1931) and Charles (1854-1948) Fillmore powered up their imagination in order to experience all the Good that God had in store for them. Myrtle believed that she could apply her imagination and lovingly guide her body into a healthy state. She considered the possibility that what stands between us and health, wealth or even harmony in our relationships is a lack of imagination.

Charles followed Myrtle’s example of healing and embraced this concept for himself. He too healed. Fortunately, he left us many writings, including the Mysteries of Genesis and the Atom-Smashing Power of the Mind. He confirmed the possibility of change in any way we wish.

Charles could then see that the allegory of the seven days of creation was a perfect lesson for us. From the first imaginary idea of what you wish to create to its realization requires some stillness. Do you remember lying on your back as a child and imagining what you saw in the clouds? Imagining can happen anywhere, anytime, when the atmosphere is quiet. Breath in the stillness. This restful time ensures that the mind is relaxed and the process is in progress.

Dr. Joe Dispenza’s life passion is sharing the story of his “unbelievable” healing with thousands of others who will heal and transform their lives by using the same techniques and meditations that he successfully used. My trip to Costa Rica to participate in his work was life changing. I found that Dr. Joe, Scripture, Myrtle and Charles are telling us the truth: Everything begins with imagination. We have the power to make changes with the use of this gift of imagination. It takes intention and practice.

Three concepts that are in alignment with the manifestation of your dreams:

Light – “Let there be light, and there was light.” When we are open to intelligent awareness and turn on the light there will be light. We can then see clearly before moving forward. To begin this process I would invite you to ask your inner knowing for light in any situation that you desire to be different.

Faith – Say “Yes” to faith and the “firmament” comes next. The firmament is the vast solid dome that is above all that is. It is the umbrella or theme over everything. Firmament is the place within you that knows the Truth and knows that God is your Source Energy. Your desire can become manifest with firm faith in God. When you hold to this faith, you feel a sense of certainty, magnitude and effortless ease that gives allow for manifestation.

Imagination – “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear.” That’s the imagination that turns impossible to the possible. Here the mind forms whatever it wants. Time spent in meditation, relaxation, mindfulness and other ways of being quiet is an investment! It is wisely choosing to use the Divine gift you were given. Have you forgotten it? Begin again like a little child. Divine ideas will flow forth, and the apparent challenges in your life will transform into the opportunities that are a direct path to your Good. Why not create heaven on earth?

Becoming like a child who still thrills in imagination, you will understand the words from Matthew 18. Let these words calm you and inspire you into the kingdom of light, faith and imagination. “At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them, and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’”

When you’re ready, I invite you to go back to the questions that have been marinating, use your power of imagination and breathe life into your juicy dreams as if you were a child again.

Enjoying This Blessed Kingdom of Childlikeness Every Day,

Barbara
