Staying Connected at Every Age!

"The Hand That Rocks the Cradle Is the Hand That Rules the World" is a poem by William Ross Wallace that praises motherhood as the preeminent force for change in the world. The poem was first published in 1865 under the title "What Rules the World". The hand that rocks the cradle today could be mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, teacher, nanny or any one of many titles. When a child is in our care we have the power to make a difference, positive or negative. We play a vital role in a child’s life.

As a parent, one thing I know is that our child is always our child whether age 1 or 51 or whatever the number of years! Being a conscious parent, grandparent or any person responsible for a child is a critically important commitment. I also know that our relationship is meant to be not only important but joyful! Our relationship is meant to be fulfilling, rmeaningful and joyful! When I do things with and for my children I see it as my gift, my pleasure.

Having been a Sunday school teacher and director, 9th grade teacher, minister, student of Montessori, Conscious Discipline, Positive Discipline, natural health and business trainer, wholistic life coach and HeartMath trainer, being mom was and is by far my first love, first interest, first responsibility. While principles of connection remain, how I show up over the years as mom changes over the years. I’ve learned and am still learning that my prayers and willingness to reconsider my role is important.

I use the HeartMath Freeze Frame Technique every day, and I coach others in that same effective and quick technique. I’ve coached many a parent in staying connected while being detached in ways that allow each child to develop strength and independence. Being present and letting go can get pretty tricky. No one said that being a parent would be easy; no one even gave us instructions. However, we can always learn, always get better and enjoy our relationships more!

I am passionate about being the best parent I can be (clearly not perfect) and coaching other parents and anyone who is involved with children to be the best they can be. Just one “light-bulb moment” can change the behavior of the adult, which often results in the behavior change of a child. Sometimes applying newly learned skills takes time and patience because the results we seek can be a process and not an event. Assuredly the process is worth the time and effort.

On Monday, December 9th 8:30 PM ET I am offering a webinar that offers simple, practical ideas and techniques that lead to transformation. Adults can make a sincere and joyful effort to gain, regain or take an already positive relationship to a new level.
