It’s a day of love so let’s dive right in…(not to the chocolates *wink*) but to thoughts and deeds of love. Consider first these thoughts; see where they take you! You will feel it in your heart and be motivated to give some really good love to another.
"Love grows by giving. The love we give away is the only love we keep. The only way to retain love is to give it away."
"Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love."
"Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more."
H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
"In my life I've learned that true happiness comes from giving. Helping others along the way makes you evaluate who you are. I think that love is what we're all searching for. I haven't come across anyone who didn't become a better person through love."
Maria Gibbs "No one has ever become poor by giving."
"I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver."
"The giving of love is an education in itself."
As I read these quotes, I ask myself some questions very much relevant to love and giving on Valentine’s Day. “To whom will I give? and What will I give?” I could take food to the food bank, gather great clothes that no longer serve me and take to donation center, pick up loose trash in the parking lot, call someone I would like to hear from, tell someone “Thank You” as I look them in the eye, smile at a clerk, compliment someone, offer to hold the door for someone, pay it forward in the drive-through or grocery store, offer someone a ride, invite someone to lunch, bake a special dish and share with a neighbor.
The possibilities for expanding your giving are so very many. Do you want to have a really fun, loving Valentine’s day, then I hope you will get out of your routine box of expectations for the day and give to another to whom you might not otherwise give! By the way, you don’t need to stop with one! Give like crazy and go for a really fun day sharing love in simple ways wherever you are!
“Our greatest power as nations and individuals is not the ability to employ assault weapons, suicide bombers, and drones to destroy each other. The greater more creative powers with which we may arm ourselves are grace and compassion sufficient enough to love and save each other.” ― Aberjhani, Splendid Literarium: A Treasury of Stories, Aphorisms, Poems, and Essays
